## COIN CELL BATTERY HOLDERS – FOR REPLACEABLE COIN CELLS 

Motherboards and small remote devices use coin cells to provide a trickle charge keeping memory and internal clocks running, or to power low-level transmissions and simple functions. Often the design will just solder the coin cell to the PCB, but this limits the life of the device to the life on the battery. By adding a simple holder to the PCB, batteries can be replaced in service.

S8211-46R 

These holders are designed to be used with a negative contact zone underneath on the PCB – the holder is the positive contact. With 2 large contact fingers, a wide range of battery widths can be used, and they have a high retention force. 

- S8201-46R – 12mm diameter coin cells: CR1220, CR1225, BR1220, BR1225 

- S8211-46R – 20mm diameter coin cells: CR2016, CR2025, CR2032, BR2016, BR2020, BR2025 & similar

The insulated holders accept the most popular size of Ø12 and Ø20mm batteries. They are more suitable for applications where an end user or consumer may be required to replace the battery. Both negative and positive contacts are built into the holder. 

- S8411-45R – 12mm diameter coin cell CR1220 

- S8421-45R – 20mm diameter coin cell CR2032

TAPE AND REEL PACKAGING 

These four holders are all supplied in Tape-and-Reel packaging, making them ideal for automated assembly to the PCB. The holder designs incorporate flat areas for vacuum pick-and-place, so there are no disposable caps or film.

The S8401-46 is compatible with 20mm diameter coin cells CR2032 and BR2032. It provides the easiest access for battery replacement, and both positive and negative contacts are built into the design. 

**NOTE:** Although these holders are supplied in a tape and reel packing style, they are not oriented for pick and place assembly – the packing style is used to provide the best protection to the throughboard terminations.
