This Product Change Notification (PCN) covers the following two changes: - 1) Reduction in lead length scrap material for tape and reel packaging - 2) Change in reeling direction to conform to EIA-468 requirements ## **Lead Length Scrap Reduction** For the Multifuse® models listed in the “Affected Part Numbers” table in this PCN, the total length of the leads will be shortened as shown in the example pictures below. The actual dimension changes will vary between models. However, assuming the components will be removed from the tape and reel packaging by cutting the leads at the tape edge, the form, fit and function of the component will not be affected. Only the length of the scrap lead material remaining in the tape will change. There is no change in the mechanical, electrical or material properties, and the components’ performance and agency recognition remain the same. The current reeling direction for the affected Multifuse® models is not in compliance with EIA-468 requirements, so Bourns is taking this opportunity to improve its packaging method by bringing the reeling direction in line with the EIA-468 standard. There are no other changes to the packaging materials or the tape or reel dimensions. Customers who wish to continue receiving the current non-conforming reeling direction may elect to do so by contacting their local Bourns customer service representative. In such cases, a special suffix may be added to the end of the part number in order to ensure compliance with the customer’s desire for the non-EIA-468 compliant reeling direction going forward.
