Reed Sensors **Datasheet** ## **59040** Press-Fit Firecracker Reed Sensor + 57040 Actuator ## **Description** **==> picture [122 x 64] intentionally omitted <==** **----- Start of picture text -----**
Sensor
Actuator
**----- End of picture text -----**
The 59040 Press-Fit Firecracker Reed Sensor is a small, cylindrical reed sensor 31.0mm (1.22”) long that presses into a 9.5mm (.375”) diameter hole with a choice of normally open, normally closed or change-over contacts. It is capable of switching up to 200Vdc at 10W Contact rating. Extensive range of sensitivity with specified cable length is available. The housing color is white. It has three crush ribs along the length of the capsule that allow a firm and fixed press-fit. It is well suited for position and limit sensing, security, level sensing applications. It functions best with the 57040 actuator. **Note:** The 57040 Actuator is sold separately. ## **Features** ## **Agency Approvals** |**Agency**|**Agency File Number**
E61760| |---|---| **Note:** Contact Littelfuse for specific agency approval ratings. ## **Dimensions** - Magnetically-operated pressfit proximity sensor - Cylindrical capsule with retaining ribs - Operates and mounts through non-ferrous materials such as wood, plastic or aluminum - Hermetically sealed contacts - Customer-defined sensitivity options available - Custom cable length and connector options available - Press-fits into a standard drill size hole of 9.5mm (.375”) diameter - RoHS Compliant Dimensions in mm (inch) **==> picture [208 x 200] intentionally omitted <==** **----- Start of picture text -----**
Sensor
8.46±0.25
a (.333±.01)
Q)== a=—
10.70 ±0.25
31.00±0.25 300
(.42 ±.01)
(1.22±.01) (11.81)
Actuator
8.46±0.25
(.333±.01)
OETt
10.70 ±0.25
31.00±0.25
(.42 ±.01)
(1.22±.01)
Notes:
**----- End of picture text -----**
## **Benefits** - Ribs on capsule compress ■ Non-contact solution, when inserted into a aesthetically more appealing mounting hole and provide than push-button or lever retaining force, allowing mechanical-type switches simple and secure press-fit ■ Ideal for battery-powered installation - Ideal for battery-powered - installation applications as the contacts - ■ Quick and easy press-fit do not draw power when in installation that requires no the non-activated state screws, brackets, nor glue. - Reed contacts last for millions - ■ Well suited for usage in highof operating cycles under moisture and contaminated micro-controller voltage and environments current logic-level loads ## **Applications** - Position and limit sensing ■ Appliances - ■ Security ■ Industrial **1.** The 59040 Sensor and 57040 Actuator are designed to fit into a drill size hole of 9.5mm (0.375") diameter. **2.** Not recommended to be mounted within ferrous metal materials.
