## Description

The Taiwan Semiconductor SMCJ78A is a surface-mount unidirectional transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode engineered to protect sensitive semiconductor circuitry from high-energy voltage transients. Built on a glass-passivated junction configuration within a low-profile DO-214AB (SMC) package featuring two matte tin-plated leads, this component delivers a peak pulse power dissipation of 1.5 kW for a 10/1000 µs waveform. It exhibits a reverse standoff voltage ($V_{WM}$) of 78 V, a minimum breakdown voltage ($V_{BR}$) of 86.7 V, and a maximum breakdown voltage of 95.8 V at a test current of 1 mA.
