## Description

The Vishay 1N5231B is a silicon planar power Zener single diode engineered for precision voltage stabilization and regulation circuits. Housed in a through-hole DO-35 package with 2 pins, this component delivers a nominal Zener voltage ($V_Z$) of 5.1 V with a tight standard tolerance of ±5% at thermal equilibrium. It supports a total power dissipation ($P_{tot}$) of 500 mW at lead temperatures ($T_L$) at or below 25 °C, and a maximum operating junction temperature ($T_j$) of 175 °C (with a storage range up to 200 °C max ratings depending on application constraints). Designed for high reliability, the 1N5231B features a test current ($I_{ZT1}$) of 20 mA, a low maximum dynamic impedance ($ZZ$ at $I_{ZT1}$) of 17 $\Omega$, and a maximum reverse leakage current ($I_R$) of 5 $\mu$A at a reverse voltage ($V_R$) of 2 V.

This AEC-Q101 qualified Zener diode is ideally suited for automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics applications requiring robust voltage reference, clamping, and stabilization. Typical application circuits include low-power linear voltage regulators, overvoltage protection networks, and signal conditioning stages where maintaining a stable reference rail is critical. The DO-35 axial lead package ensures ease of through-hole PCB insertion while providing a junction-to-ambient thermal resistance ($R_{\theta JA}$) of 300 K/W. Compliant with RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC, and fully halogen-free per IEC 61249-2-21 standards, the 1N5231B provides consistent electrical performance across demanding thermal environments.
